Democracy Online Resources
October 2026

A monthly guide to resources you don't want to miss!
Written by Bill L (Delta Dental Bridge).
Our featured October resource is progressive activist Jessica Craven. She is an elected member of the California Democratic Party Central Committee. Jess is a former singer and actress. In her Patreon account she says “My Mission? Simple: to defeat MAGA and get more Democrats elected, and get more regular folks involved in politics on both the federal and local level” Unlike the two previously featured content creators, Jessica is a bit more therapeutic in the sense that she tends toward producing more personally relatable content. For some time, her main content can be found on her Substack newsletter, Chop Wood, Carry Water.
It is also featured a podcast by the same name which can be found on Apple or Spotify. Chop Wood, Carry Water often features video content, sometimes featuring monologs from her home or car, sometimes video clips featuring others, always engaging. It’s worth checking out, and available for free. As a bonus recommendation this month, consider subscribing to Dean Blundell’s newsletter, Canada vs. Everyone. It is particularly timely as the focus is on Trump’s battle with Canada ranging from when Trump wanted Canada to become the 51st state, to the trade war, The “renaming” of Lake Ontario, and changing international alliances. This one does have a subscription cost but usually publishes 2 or 3 times per day. Like my other recommendations it can be found on Substack.
